The Green Lemon

The brief: What have you discovered locally or at home in the last year? Think about where you live and what’s on your doorstep. What can inspire you? Is there a local shop or restaurant that you could rebrand?

My response: A rebrand of The Green Lemon, a local cafe and bistro in Langport, Somerset. The Green Lemon is run by a male Italian restaurateur. Originally the restaurant was filled with random pieces of furniture, worn tablecloths, dull old paintings and dingy walls. My rebrand includes a blue, green and white colour palette which gives The Green Lemon a fresh, natural and consistent theme. The modern style aims to attract a wider audience.

In Italy, alfresco dining is very popular with tourists and locals. My rebrand brings the outdoors into the restaurant by using a natural, neutral colour palette. The plants, wooden tables and chairs and lemon logo create an outside, nature-inspired theme.

I designed Italian inspired tiles, with The Green Lemon logo incorporated into the design. The tiles added an Italian theme within the brand. The tiles are present in the interior design, menus, uniform and packaging. They have brightened the once dull walls and have carried the brand colours with them around the interior.
